Context of the role

BDO Consultancy is recruiting for an apprentice DevOps Engineer to join our London Office. You will be working across all programmes and operations and will be based in London and much of the work will be remote at first due to the pandemic. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter to join an innovative, fast growing IT and Management Consultancy organisation, enabling the organisation to get valuable working software solution out to users and improving the quality of digital services.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsibility for all aspects of development and operations process from design, build, test, implement and deployment
  • Applying all DevOps culture and software engineering disciplines to cloud infrastructure
  • Interacting with members of the agile delivery teams, enterprise architecture team, Data scientist, operations, suppliers, and service providers
  • Analyse organisation existing processes and develop solution to deliver service improvement
  • Design, implement and manage continuous delivery pipelines on cloud platforms
  • Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging system
  • Architect, manage and maintain tools to automate operational processes

 

Knowledge

  • A range of modern security tools and techniques – e.g., threat modelling, vulnerability scanning and dependency checking, with a general awareness of penetration testing
  • Automation techniques, such as scripting and use of APIs
  • Continuous Integration, frequently merging of code, the creation of build artefacts and ensuring all unit and integration tests pass.
  • Monitoring and alerting technologies and an awareness of the insights that can be derived from the infrastructure and applications – collecting logs and metrics, configuring alerting thresholds, firing alerts, and visualising data.
  • The principles and application of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment
  • Difference between cloud solution offering such as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service, and how to make an informed choice that suits each business use case
