Context of the role

BDO Consultancy is recruiting for an apprentice Software Developer to join our London Office. Initially you will be working on a major programme of work based in London and much of the work will be remote at first due to the pandemic. The apprenticeship will be London-based. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and technical self-starter to join an innovative, fast growing IT and Management Consultancy organisation, building, testing, and deploying high quality software. The role is to develop bespoke software solutions to support businesses.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding client’s requirements as provided in design specification and then building and testing solutions to deliver the best outcome.
  • Working with a business analyst and user experience/user research team to give life to the team’s ideas through the delivery of effective code
  • Working as part of an agile delivery team, to develop solutions to business requirements.
  • Interpreting design documentation and specifications provided by enterprise and solution architects
  • Interacting with internal and external parties including business service users, customers to capture their needs and develop prototypes for proposed solution.
  • Responsible for developing software solutions across the full software development life cycle from discovery to transition of service to Production

Duties

  • Interpret system requirements to estimate effort to deliver the solution
  • Split development activities down into tasks of work to enable sequencing and ensure the best possible structuring of activities to deliver high quality product
  • Update delivery manager/project manager/scrum master on progress throughout the development life-cycle stages (for agile delivery, observe Scrum rituals)
  • Identify and select the most appropriate technical solution, taking into consideration coding best practice and appropriate quality standards.
  • Apply security best practice to the software solution throughout the software development life cycle
  • Provide support during software testing and after release to Production, ensure that customers understand and can correctly apply the product, and risks are mitigated.

  • Change Delivery Methodology.
  • All stages of the software development life cycle
  • How best to communicate using the different communication and collaboration tools
  • Software design approaches and patterns, to identify reusable solutions to commonly occurring problems
  • Principles and uses of relational, non-relational databases and cloud computing utilities
  • Software testing frameworks and methodologies
